You could add some luxuries to the menu to such as a short 'description' set when the leader creates, just like a guild message.

I think everyone (pvp and pve alike) would find a system like this particularly useful.

As for a release in China.. That's quite complicated. The government (or 'establishment' - whatever you can call it :P) there has imposed strict laws surrounding online games, including limiting the time you're legally allowed to spend playing them.

If blizzard have got around them though, I don't see why Anet/ncsoft can't. It's one thing they are probably working very hard on even as we speak.
I love that idea! Nice one!

I love the LFG flag.

But I've also thought about the spreading thin ... if not giving away GW, GW-F over time.... Flatten the servers.. so were all in one "big" districts) aka the same server. It would be a drastic culture change.. but if the community can get over it and the I hate X country smack talk was kept in check, it would be good to find parties ast such.

Take "International District and change it to "Market District".

I know Koreans still have momentum in HoH, but from what I have heard their distrcts are almost dead. Only few play it over there, and apparently its even worse in japan.

does few players that play are just really good, so it seems like there are many of them.

Maybe gailie can tell about the games succes. I think the game has hit its peak... I don't see how it can continue getting new players. only a core base(us) will keep buying the new campaigns because we love the game...

if we had 6 million players.. like wow, we wouldnt have all these problems.

ive never seen a town with only 1 district that is totally dead- even in the jungle there are always people on LFG for this and that.

If you want to play with people, join a guild, or do PvP- Most guild wars players dont have the patience to do PvE with other people- I sure dont. Last thing I need at 3AM when I want to kill Galrath, is some stupid ranger to run and aggro the whole map on me (example)

This is a generalized list of my feelings on the subject at hand- its not aimed at anyone, and not meant to be a flame post (eh... how could it be? I just scared I dont know what the rules of flaming are)

1. If this game was like WoW, I wouldnt play it.

2. There are plenty of people who only own factions- which means that there will be plenty of new people. I know of at least half a dozen (noob) guildmates that started in factions, and THEN got Gw1. I think this trend will continue- say a new player decides to make the jump to GW at the release of NightFall... You dont think they will eventually buy the previous chapters if they enjoy the game?

3. Personally Im more afraid of the mass of noobies- its going to be like the first few weeks of Factions when people are like "OMG I GOT REZ SIG I RULE!"

4. The noobs will make the Dervish just as hated on as the assassin is now... who knows maybe finding a group as an assassin will actually be easier.

5. Unless ANet trashes the servers, I will always play this game. And if you are one of the people who think the game is dying- look past your decaying guild and see that there are new people coming in every single day.

Well here is my thoughts not that anyone cares. I'll start by saying I'm a huge fan and have had GW since it first hit the stores.

1. I'm sorry but I really think they need to either increase the level cap or have a LOT more content for lvl 20 because at this point I've been hunting for other online games. As someone said at some point it just turns into a farming game. I think that's the main issue.

After Nightfall the next chapter needs to be for lvl 20 only if they decide not to increase the lvl cap which i dont' care if they do or not and they've said they will not so i'm not expecting that.

More content and areas for lvl 20 including quest, extra armor, and everything.

Lvl 20 only chapter or the first expansion.

Some new FOW LIKE armors would add some content...

As well as some faster "elite areas" like Urgoz and Deep...i already have 5 lvl20 chars and the only thing that keeps me goin and playing is actualy FARM and trying to solo those missions...maybe some day i accomplish that goal ^^

Later.

I'm online playing games about 5 days a week. When GW gets a little boring, I switch over to Mechwarrior Mercenaries for a day. Then one day I might play one of the many Tycoon games out there. Then I rock with Call of Duty 2. Then I'm back to GW. When it gets boring, rinse and repeat.

I don't think people should play the exact same game every day. If it's that addicting, you'll end up losing jobs and stuff because of it. If it's not that addicting, you will get bored. I'd say more people get burned out on a system and not a game. There are days when I don't feel like playing an online Magic the Gathering game, and instead want to actually aim and shoot something. Then some days I want to put 10 sims in a room with no bathroom, no fridge, no phone and no exit, and see which one survi-... er, you get the point. Variety is the spice of life, even in video games it seems.

People with Rez Sigs do rule =D

Flaming on a forum is like..using words that can get into an arguement. Like me calling you stupid or something. If that were the case, then I would be flaming you.

I read that Anet has contracted with 9City - the Chinese company which runs WoW in China - to introduce GW in China. 9City sucks, as any Chinese WoW player can tell you. I assume they would introduce Factions and Prophesies as a bundle, as it makes no sense otherwise. This raises 4 questions:

1. Will it really get introduced? I bet yes. 9City is probably always interested in expanding their product line. The localization is very easy because all the text is already in Traditional Chinese (for Taiwan and Hong Kong). The only reason it has not started yet is because they are probably still working on the business model and packaging. Probably need to change some of the text-content for Mainlanders as well.

2. Will it become popular here in China? I place 30% odds. I really don't know. There are several online RPGs that Chinese people play and most Chinese gamers are power-gamers...not sure that GW fits their taste. On the other hand, Chinese gamers really like card games like Magic The Gathering. It really depends on how its promoted and it depends on the degree to which 9City fugs it up ("fug" is my new censor-friendly word which I created and I am trying to popularlze) I heard that GW in Taiwan has both a pay-per-minute model which is internet-bar friendly, and an American/original sales model. I have only occassionally seen Taiwanese players though (judging by seeing Chinese-traditional character toon names)

3. Will GW in China be compatible / on the same system as the rest of GW? Not sure. The government probably does not like that because it allows for an un-regulated communications network through The Great China Firewall. On the other hand, Anet has a great track-record in China with Lineage 2 which is internationsl, and they have made a point of making GW an international game. Diablo 2 can be played anywhere as well.

4. How will that affect the community? If the way they play WoW is any indication...Many Chinese gamers will migrate into GW with Chinese mega-guilds. Western players will find that mostof them are friendly, but have poor English. Most will not really know any English that can get past the censor. They will have as much team-work skills as Westerners. Meaning that 90% will have no team-work skills and 10% will. Guildys will have great team-work skills. They also will be less "picky" about what classes to let into the group. Most will be college students...very few high-schoolers.

OK. Another question...will Chinese players pay for running? That's something I'm really interested in. Chinese people don't like to pay for services. I'm wondering if paid running services would catch on here.

well you have to remember this game is world wide too. so maybe is not as popular where you are atm. but it seems to be fine here. I'm in Alaska and I have a benefit of hitting many zones in prime during my late night. Especially Europe and east coast USA. But I have noticed that during MY prime times favor has shifted to Korea a lot. so I tend to go to international districts in those cases...

I guess its all in the time of day for you. you just need to find a good time. For me it was like at 3 am for a few missions that I needed.

One cool thing on this game however that most often overlook, is that it is playable with henchies in a pinch. Most of the game I played with henchies the first time through... then with groups the rest of the times for much more enjoyment. Generally speaking though every mission is doable with henchies and time. If you are really all alone. your not Stuck per say... I think that was the brilliant on anets part...

You aren't going to find many people left in Cantha due to the lack of PVE content. Those that are still in Cantha are struggling to get groups OR are only there for elite missions and to sell their wares.
I think this is now just a wait and see type of thing. Many saw Factions as a bomb even though it sold so many copies... The reason it sold so many copies is because Prophecies was such a huge success and we were expecting something similar with Factions... Granted there are a few other reasons it sold so many but in truth the majority bought were by those who loved Prophecies (most of these people are currently disappointed at shelling out the $40-50 for Factions).
Nightfall may bring back some population but I think a goodly portion of players will be sitting back and waiting to see how Nightfall will pan out before rushing out to get a copy this time. If it bombs you can expect the amount of players to decrease rather rapidly.
You couldn't be more further from the Truth as everyone like Prophecies as there is more replayablity in that game. There really isn't much in Factions only the Alliance Battles the quaries like Aspenwood which had problems from the get go.The missions them selves were poorly thought out as I much prefer the Prophecy stlye missions over Faction.I may sit out Nightfall or wait and see waht you pl say about it.I really need to work on my Guild as it is dieing and my Char.s more.

The only part of the game I do believe that Koreans like is PvP for the Guilds that are in it as that is what the game is really about if you don't mind PKing all the time I don't.
